The City of Lake Station, Indiana
Locally known as the crossroads of America due to
the easy access to Interstate 80/94, the Indiana Toll Road and Lake
Michigan, Lake Station is a residential community with a population
of approximately 14,000 people. The city is focusing on its
positives and building the future. We are making the kinds of
infrastructure and revitalization investments that will help future
development. Water and sewer line upgrades are in the works
and many road projects are coming to fruition. New residential
housing located on Old Hobart Road has begun with Phase I which will
include lots 73 to 146. The development will provide housing
for residents and newcomers.

Mayor's Office |

February 5, 2012
I am happy to report that the City has installed the first of
it's 100% solar street lights. The solar powered street
light will be 100% efficient and not cost the city anything to
run. The lighting will continue around the walking path of
Grand Boulevard Lake. If you happen to drive by or walk
Grand Boulevard Lake, it's located by the picnic peninsula
island.
We have been lucky during these winter months and have not had a
significant amount of snow accumulation. If we happen to
receive severe weather in the future, the City of Lake Station
Public Works is urging all residents to please keep your cars
off the side of the road until the storm and cleanup is over.
We are asking for your cooperation so that City snow plows can
keep the roads clean and, more importantly, not bury your
vehicles in snow during this snow season. I am aware that
this might pose a problem for some of you, but, please do
your best, it is very important to keep the roads cleared.
The City of Lake Station has a 24 hour mail box and utility drop
box. The boxes are located in the City Hall parking lot
for your convenience.
Sincerely,
Mayor Keith Soderquist
